Back on Fedora

2 March 2009

I (re)started playing with Linux and Fedora. I finally installed Fedora 10 on my home PC, but I have to redo my development configuration to be able to generate correctly my new Fedora 10 repository.

As for now I already started working on the driver for my NVIDIA GPU (FX400) and made some custom RPM for the 96.43.11 driver (based on the work from RPM Fusion for version 96.43.09-3).

The current binary RPMs are here: http://rpmfarm.free.fr/10/i386/RPMS.farm/

  • akmod-nvidia-96xx-96.43.11-1
  • kmod-nvidia-96xx-2.6.27.15-170.2.24.fc10.i686-96.43.11-1
  • kmod-nvidia-96xx-2.6.27.15-170.2.24.fc10.i686.PAE-96.43.11-1
  • kmod-nvidia-96xx-96.43.11-1
  • kmod-nvidia-96xx-PAE-96.43.11-1
  • xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-96xx-96.43.11-1
  • xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-96xx-devel-96.43.11-1
  • xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-96xx-libs-96.43.11-1

The source RPMS are here: http://rpmfarm.free.fr/10/i386/SRPMS.farm/

  • nvidia-96xx-kmod-96.43.11-1
  • xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-96xx-96.43.11-1

Feel free to use them right now…

Misc tools I’ve worked on recently

Even without using Fedora I’m involved in some Open Source stuff thanks to cygwin (you can check my Cygwin::EL pages).

Fedora8: use the installation DVD as a repositoy

19 November 2007

If you installed only a subset of the needed packages and want to use yum to complete your installation, you can set up a repo based on the DVD:

  1. copy from the root of the DVD the file media.repo to /etc/yum.repo.d:
  2. edit this file to add the baseurl and have this:

baseurl=file:///media/Fedora%208%20i386%20DVD
